Hearing aids are important because they allow someone to be able to hear again and it is something that you should not take lightly. Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids sit outside your ear behind it. When you imagine hearing aids this is what you probably think of because it is the oldest style still available today. Even with advances in technology it still is one of the best aids for people’s needs. Some of the BTE hearing aids advantages are: it can assist with more types of hearing loss than the current generation of hearing devices, it has a large variety of colors that allows it to blend in with your skin tone, and it is one of the most comfortable but also discreet hearing aids available.

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are visible on the outside of the ear and rest inside the ear canal. It is very large in size which allows it to have functions that most hearing aids do not. ITE hearing aids have directional microphones and memory programs which improve hearing aids dramatically. Also, the ITE hearing aid contains a larger battery which does not need changed as much.

In-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids are the least noticeable of all hearing aids as they rest inside the ear canal. They are similar in function to the ITE with an advanced electronic system but it is much smaller in size. This tends to be the popular style choice for those with mild hearing loss. When fitted correctly the sound quality from an ITC hearing aid is good.

Completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aids are almost invisible as they are fitted inside the ear canal but are probable the least comfortable of all hearing aids. The sensitivity to hearing or the shape of people’s ears will prevent them from being able to be fitted with a CIC hearing aid. However, if you are able to get a CIC you will find that sound is far closer to normal compared to other hearing aids.
